Definitions
Patavium Design srl hereby informs you that cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send and record on their computer or mobile device, to be then retransmitted to the same sites upon the next visit. Thanks to cookies, a site remembers the user’s actions and preferences (such as login data, chosen language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to visit said site or navigates from one page to another.
Cookies are therefore used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring, and storage of information regarding the activities of users accessing a site, and may also contain a unique identification code that allows tracking of the user’s navigation within the site for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on their computer from sites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called “third-party” cookies). Some operations could not be performed without the use of cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically necessary for the site’s operation.
There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and these can remain on the user’s computer for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s equipment until a predetermined expiration date.
According to current Italian legislation, express consent from the user is not always required for the use of cookies. In particular, “technical cookies” do not require such consent; these are used solely for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies essential for the site’s operation or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.
Among the technical cookies that do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (cf. Provision Identification of simplified procedures for information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies of May 8, 2014, and subsequent clarifications, hereinafter referred to only as the “Provision“) also includes:
- “analytics cookies” when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site,
- navigation or session cookies (for authentication),
- functionality cookies, which allow the user to browse based on a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided.
For “profiling cookies,” on the other hand—those aimed at creating profiles related to the user and used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web—prior consent from the user is required.
Types of cookies used by the Site and possibility of (de-)selection
The Site uses the following cookies which can be de-selected, except for third-party cookies for which you must refer directly to the relative selection and de-selection methods of the respective cookies, indicated via links.

- Third-party cookies, i.e., cookies from sites or web servers other than those of the Controller, used for the purposes of said third parties. It is specified that such third parties, listed below with the relative links to their privacy policies, are typically independent data controllers of the data collected through the cookies they serve; therefore, you must refer to their personal data processing policies, information notices, and consent forms (selection and de-selection of the respective cookies), as specified in the aforementioned Provision. For the sake of completeness, it is also specified that the Controller does its utmost to track cookies on its Site. These are updated regularly in the following table, where we provide transparency regarding the cookies directly sent by the Controller and their purposes. Regarding third parties that send cookies through our Site, we provide links to their respective privacy notices below: as already specified, we delegate to these third parties the responsibility of providing the information notice and collecting your consent, as required by the Provision. This responsibility refers not only to cookies that third parties send directly but also to any additional cookies sent through our Site by virtue of the use of services utilized by the third parties themselves. Indeed, with respect to such cookies sent by service providers of the aforementioned third parties, the Controller has no possibility of exercising any control and is aware of neither their characteristics nor their purposes.
